Grand Rapids Camera (Formerly Norman's Camera) Asked me to Lead the new Education Department
This one has been in the works for a while. And I am glad I can finally talk about it.
I am partnering with Grand Rapids Camera (formerly Norman's Camera) to lead their new Classes and Workshops Department. It is something I have been working toward for a long time, and getting to announce it feels amazing! Dream stuff and excitement!
Why this matters to me
Teaching photography is not something I do on the side. It is a real part of how I think about this work. I got into photography because someone took the time to show me things. I have been paying that forward in different ways for years. Now I get to do it with a proper home base, a real partner, and a chance to build something that actually sticks around for the West Michigan photography community.
There is a lot of talent here. I want to give it somewhere to grow.
What we are starting with
Three classes this month, and more coming:
June 13 — The Exposure Triangle: The Adventure to Manual Mode This is our foundational class. If you have been shooting in auto and want to understand what is actually happening when you take a picture, start here.
June 18 — Intro to Lightroom You probably already have it. You might not have really used it yet. This class is for you!
June 27 — Practical Lightroom A deeper look at the Develop module and masking. Help building a real editing workflow. Less overview, more doing.
What I want from you
Tell me what you want to learn. Niche techniques. Specific subjects. Skills you have been trying to build for years and never found the right resource for. I am building this curriculum with the actual community in mind, and your input is going to shape what comes next.
